POINTE
Pointe work is a dance technique in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet. It is the dancers strength and technique that bring her from the normal standing position through a mid-position, “demi-pointe”, to the full-pointe position. Once en pointe, the dancer maintains a contraction of the muscles of the feet, ankles, legs and torso to pull herself up out of the shoe. Placement by a ROOTS Staff member is absolutely required for this class. Click here for Dress Code Information

These classes are dedicated to learning, improving and perfecting technique in jumps, kicks and turns. Stretch and strengthening is also included to improve dancers’ power. Jazz movement will be incorporated into across-the-floor progressions and center combos. We recommend taking a ballet and jazz class prior to taking a Skills class.
