Thanks for stopping by! My wife, Kristy, and I founded ROOTS Academy in 2012 with a simple idea—create a place where students of all ages can learn and grow in a safe, creative, and inspiring environment. Today, we are a vibrant community of over 1,400 growth-minded creatives pursuing our passions in music, dance, and theatre.
At ROOTS, everything we do is guided by The ROOTS Way, built on three core values:

Our History

ROOTS campus
Located in the heart of Cool Springs, the ROOTS Academy Campus spans 18,400 square feet across three facilities: the Main Building, the Annex, and Studio M.
Our Brentwood, TN campus includes 15 music lesson studios, 7 dance studios with professional sprung floors, and a fully equipped band studio. Parents can enjoy four welcoming lobby areas with comfortable workspaces and seating, designed for both relaxation and productivity. The campus also offers 95 parking spaces and filtered water stations for added convenience.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT ⭐ Bonney has been part of ROOTS for an incredible eleven years! This fall, she’s heading to Lipscomb University to study Kinesiology. Her favorite memory was winning at Nationals and celebrating with her team. When asked what her time at ROOTS has meant to her, Bonney shared:
“I cannot express the gratitude I have in my heart for ROOTS and all of the people who have shaped me into the person I am today. When I walked into the studio for the first time, I never knew that this place would become my second home, filled with a loving community that I now call my family. ROOTS is an environment where expression flourishes and friendships go beyond the studio...I will be forever grateful.”

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT ⭐ Daisy has been part of ROOTS for the past four years, and this fall she’s heading to the MTSU Honors College to study Nursing! Some of her favorite memories are spending time with her team during recital weekend and grabbing lunch between shows. When asked what her time at ROOTS has meant to her, Daisy shared:
“After moving to Tennessee from California, I had to find my home studio. After a few tries, I came across ROOTS and decided to try a class here. Little did I know that this time, I had found my home. I can’t believe that my dancing years are coming to a close. After competing for the final time with conflicting emotions, it’s bittersweet to let go and start a new chapter, but I won’t be far. ROOTS and dance will always have a place in my heart, and I am so blessed to have danced with y’all.”

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT ⭐ Presley has been an important part of our community, bringing passion, resilience, and heart to everything she does. When asked what her time at ROOTS has meant to her, she shared:
“After moving across the country, I assumed that I wouldn’t be able to connect with people or have the same passion that I did back at my old studio. However, coming to ROOTS helped me appreciate the art of dance even more. I am so thankful to all the mentors for helping me become the person I am today. Alongside dance, they teach us how to be real people and help guide us into the real world. I am forever grateful that there are people out there like them who can help shape the way little kids grow up.”
