Hi there! My name is Saskia and I’m the Dance Director here at ROOTS Academy!

I’d like to invite you to our Free Trial Week January 13 – January 18, 2025. All new students are welcome to try a class absolutely free, with no obligations.

Dance trial classes are available for ages 18 months through 18 years!

Note: Registration for the 2024-25 season closes January 24th. Classes do fill quickly, so to ensure your child can claim an open spot we do encourage you to register them right away! Only classes with availability will have free trial spots.

Toddler Dance

Ages: 18 Months To 3 Years Old

Classes are offered multiple days a week and are focused on the foundations of Ballet and Creative Movement.

Preschool Dance

Ages: 3-4 year-olds

Preschool dance classes are offered for students ages 3 & 4 years old. Classes are offered Monday—Saturday and are focused on teaching Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro and Tumbling.

Ages: 5-6 year-olds

Preschool dance classes are offered for students ages 5 & 6 years old. Classes are offered Monday—Saturday and are focused on teaching Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro, Tumbling, and more.

Ages: 7-8 year-olds

Mini dance classes are offered for students ages 7 & 8 years old. Classes are offered Monday—Saturday and are focused on teaching Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro, Tumbling, and more.

Ages: 9-11 year-olds

Mini dance classes are offered for students ages 9-11 years old. Beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes are offered at the dance studio in Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Acro, Musical Theater, Skills, Lyrical and more.

Teen & Senior Dance

Ages: 12+ year-olds

Teen (12-14) and Senior (15+) classes are offered Monday—Saturday. Beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes are offered in Jazz, Ballet, Pre-Pointe, Hip Hop, Acro, Musical Theater, Tap, Lyrical, Fusion & Skills.

A $50 registration fee is due at enrollment for each dance season.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which class is right for me?2023-10-19T15:53:24-05:00

The first step to determining the appropriate class for your dancer is to find the appropriate age division.

  • Toddler (ages 2.5 – 3)
  • Preschool (ages 3-4)
  • Peewee (5-6)
  • Mini (ages 7-8)
  • Junior (ages 9-11)
  • Teen (ages 12-14)
  • Senior (ages 15-18)

Toddler, Preschool, and Peewee dancers must be the proper age by August 15th for their group.

Older students (ages 6+) must be the proper age by January 1st of the following year

Once you know which group is best, you can view the classes available. We have two types of classes – open and placement. Open classes require no dance experience. Placement classes are more advanced for dancers with previous experience. For placement classes, the ROOTS dance staff would love to set up an evaluation in a class with your dancer.

What if the class I want to enroll in is full and waitlisted?2023-10-19T15:55:35-05:00

If the class you’re interested in is already full, please sign up for the waitlist. This ensures you’ll be alerted if a spot opens up. If a space becomes available, we’ll reach out to confirm your interest. Only once a spot is secured for you will you be charged for tuition.

Are there any dance class options besides normal classes during the week?2023-02-01T14:28:32-06:00

Yes! We will host Master Classes and Workshops to give our dancers and dancers in the community opportunities to come in and learn from the best. You can find out more about ROOTS Dance Master Classes and Workshops here.

If I miss a dance class, can I make it up?2023-02-01T14:28:31-06:00

Sure! During the months of September through January a make-up class may be scheduled for a missed Toddler, Preschool, Peewee or Mini level class up to one month after the missed class. Students are welcome to make up their class during another class time at their same level or below, as long as the class isn’t already at full studio capacity. Simply email us at dance@rootsacademy.com to let us know that you will be out for your class to schedule a make-up class. After January, make-up classes are not offered due to recital preparation. Please keep in mind that make-ups are not offered for missed classes due to inclement weather, holidays, or Recital Picture Week.

How do I withdraw from my dance class?2019-12-30T11:36:17-06:00

If for any reason you wish to withdraw from your class, we would love to talk with you. Give us a call at (615) 804-1177 or email dance@rootsacademy.com. If you are sure you’d like to withdraw, please complete the withdrawal form.

How do I claim the 30-day money back guarantee?2019-06-07T13:59:50-05:00

The money-back guarantee is based on the following requirements:

  • The student is required to attend four consecutive weeks of lessons/classes
  • Parent/student must notify the front office regarding their dissatisfaction by the third week, giving us an opportunity to improve your learning experience.
  • Refunds will be paid by check and delivered within 10-14 business days.
Is participation in the dance recital required?2023-02-27T21:05:40-06:00

Recital participation is not required, however, it is strongly recommended. We expect that all ROOTS dancers are performing in the Recital unless we hear otherwise. If you are unable to perform, please email us as soon as possible at dance@rootsacademy.com

Are dance costume and performance fees refundable?2023-10-19T15:58:44-05:00

We truly understand the importance of every investment you make. However, once recital related fees are paid, they directly contribute to the planning and production of the recital. Because of this, we’re unable to offer refunds for costume and participation fees. We hope for your understanding and appreciate your support.

ROOTS Music offers in-studio, in-home, and online music lessons on piano, voice, guitar, drums, violin, ukulele, songwriting, music production, and more! Band, ensemble and group classes are also available.

ROOTS Dance offers a wide array of preschool, recreational, and competitive dance classes for ages 18 months to 18 years. Classes are available Monday through Saturday in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, acro, and more.
