Get ready for an unforgettable summer as ROOTS presents Annie Jr.! This three-week Musical Theatre Intensive kicks off with auditions on Saturday, June 7th, followed by rehearsals from June 9th-20th, and concludes with performances on June 25th and 26th. Leaping Lizards—what a fantastic way to spend your summer!

This program is open to performers aged 8-18, with no prior experience required. Auditions will be held to determine roles, but rest assured, everyone who participates will be cast in the show.

Our musical theatre intensive provides a well-rounded experience, honing skills in dance, voice, and acting. Students will sharpen their craft while preparing to bring the heartwarming story of Annie to life.

Important Dates: Please note times may change/adjust as we get closer to the camp and times will be updated accordingly. These are to serve as an example of the time expectation.

  • Mandatory Dress Rehearsal on Saturday, June 21 (reserve 9-5) @ROOTS
  • Mandatory Tech Rehearsal on Monday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 24th(reserve 12-8) @Venue
  • Show dates Wed, June 25 and Thurs, June 26 (reserve 12-9pm)

> Auditions: Saturday, June 7th, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM; materials will be sent in May to prepare in advance.
> Rehearsals: Monday-Friday, 1:00-5:00 PM, June 9th-20th @ROOTS (attendance is vital due to the condensed schedule).
> Mandatory Dress Rehearsal: Monday, June 23, 1:00-6:00 PM @ROOTS.
> Mandatory Tech Rehearsal: Tuesday, June 24 (Reserve 12:00-6:00 PM) @Venue.

Costume Information: Costume details for specific characters will be shared during the first week of rehearsals. Students may need to provide some costume pieces and shoes for their role.

To ensure success, rehearsal attendance and some daily at-home practice will be essential. Students will need to memorize lines, lyrics, and choreography outside of scheduled rehearsals.

The ROOTS camp staff includes a dedicated group of vetted and experienced teachers. Most are year-round ROOTS mentors, but some have been hired specifically for their camp because of their expertise in the summer camp topic.

What are the guidelines for drop-off and pick-up times, and is after-camp care available?2024-01-03T21:46:14-06:00

You may drop off your child 15 minutes prior to the start of the camp. Pick-up should be promptly arranged at the camp’s scheduled end time. Please note that we do not offer after-camp care services.

What is the procedure and policy for withdrawing a student from a camp, and are refunds available?2024-06-07T10:04:22-05:00

In the event that you need to cancel your student’s enrollment in a camp, a refund is available under specific conditions.

Registration, Withdrawal, & Reimbursement Policy:

  • Payment for camp is due in full at the time of registration.
  • Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to camp, will receive a refund for the cost of the camp minus a $50 processing fee.
  • Cancellations made within 30 days of a camp’s start date are only eligible for a refund of 50% of the camp cost. All reimbursements, minus the processing/cancellation fee, will be refunded in the form payment was initially received.
  • ROOTS reserves the right to cancel any camp that does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements. Any and all decisions to cancel a camp will be made no less than 2 weeks prior to the camp’s start date and a full refund will be issued.

To request a refund, please reach out to us at either music@rootsacademy.com or dance@rootsacademy.com, depending on the type of camp your student is enrolled in. We are happy to assist you through the refund process.

Is current enrollment in lessons or classes at ROOTS a requirement for participating in a camp?2024-01-03T21:23:31-06:00

No, it’s not required to be currently enrolled at ROOTS to register for one of our summer camps. We welcome everyone, regardless of whether they are a part of our regular programs. We’d be delighted to have you join us for summer camps, even if you’re not a current student!

Will there be an opportunity to view my child’s accomplishments during the camp?2024-01-03T21:26:28-06:00

At the conclusion of all ROOTS Camps, with the exception of the Dance Intensive, we organize a performance that highlights the skills and knowledge acquired by the students throughout the camp. The specifics of each performance may differ depending on the camp and will be communicated in detail as the camp dates approach.

Will my student need to bring a lunch, snack, or drink to camp with them?2019-07-03T11:45:53-05:00

Some camps will run through lunchtime and will require students to bring a packed lunch. Make sure you read through your camp’s description to see if lunch will be needed. ROOTS will provide snacks for camps.

We have water dispensers stationed around the studio, and we encourage students to bring refillable water bottles.

The selection of an appropriate camp for your child primarily depends on their age. We offer a range of camps designed to cater to students between the ages of 4 to 18 years. Each camp is tailored to be age-appropriate and engaging, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for beginners in dance. Music offers in-studio, in-home, and online music lessons on piano, voice, guitar, drums, violin, ukulele, songwriting, music production, and more! Band, ensemble and group classes are also available.

Dance offers a wide array of preschool, recreational, and competitive dance classes for ages 18 months to 18 years. Classes are available Monday through Saturday in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, acro, and more.

Musical Theatre combines acting, singing, and dancing into one story-filled show. Classes, camps and productions are available for ages 7-18 years.
