Abbey Loren

About

Abbey Loren is an accomplished singer, songwriter, producer and recording artist from South Florida. At age 3, Abbey became a voice-over artist for popular children’s doll company, Lovee Doll, singing educational songs. Showing an interest in playing instruments early on, her family encouraged an education in music and she began taking piano lessons at age 11. As a teenager Abbey performed in multiple bands as the lead guitarist and keyboardist, and opened up for Jefferson Starship at age 16. At 17, Abbey started her first solo project called Love, Abbey, and opened up for the pop band Fitz and the Tantrums.

During the following years of headlining shows in South Florida, Abbey began teaching music lessons to children from her church where she was the Director of Contemporary Music for 6 years. This, she discovered, was a great passion of hers and continued teaching lessons to students all over South Florida. Moving to Nashville in 2019 to pursue writing music for film and TV, Abbey quickly fell into a group of seasoned musicians. She has since gained a name for herself as both a writer and producer, writing for her own solo project, sync-licensing projects, and producing local bands and artists of all genres.

Abbey feels grateful that she was given the opportunity to explore music at an early age, and enjoys sharing that gift with others. She strives to make learning a fun and exciting journey, while encouraging her students to set their goals high and love what they do.

Abbey’s Teaching Philosophy: “I believe that, above all else, music should be enjoyed. I went through my fair share of stern, no-nonsense teachers when I was younger, and all that did was make me dread going to lessons. Learning a new instrument should be exciting and fun, and I make sure of it in every lesson.”

Questions & Answers

Why are you passionate about teaching?
“My life has been made infinitely better simply because my parents had me take music lessons as a child, so it is an honor to share that love and joy of being a musician with children, and help them reach their full potential.”

How long have you been doing what you do?
“I grew up with two extremely musical parents, who own a recording studio in South Florida. I became a voice-over artist for children’s dolls at the age of 3, singing educational songs. As a teenager I was in rock bands as the keyboardist or guitarist, before realizing I wanted to write my own music. At 18 I became the Worship Leader at my church, and it was there that I discovered my love of directing and working with groups of musicians. At 19, I began writing sync-licensing music for film and TV with producers in Nashville, and moved here in 2019 to continue writing full time. I soon began producing on my own, and now produce other artists in Nashville, as well as for my own project. Throughout this journey, I have been teaching piano, guitar, and voice lessons to students of all ages for over 7 years, and hope to continue for the rest of my life.”

What is your favorite local spot to spend time at when you’re not working?
“I love hiking at Beaman park, it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. But I’m also from Florida so maybe that’s why.”

What type of student will excel under your mentorship?
“I enjoy working with students that are excited to learn, but I also know the struggle of being a kid and wanting to do anything but practice. For those students, I believe I am an inspiring and fun mentor that can get them out of that rut and back onto the road of being excited about music.”

What causes are you passionate about?
“I’m very passionate about the care and respect of people with special needs. I was a unified player for the Special Olympics volleyball team in Florida, and hope to join the Tennessee team soon.”

If you could meet one author, performer who would it be and what would you ask them?
“Sufjan Stevens. I probably wouldn’t ask him anything I’d just cry. So I hope I don’t ever actually meet him.”
